COURSE DESCRIPTION AND PERTINENT CRITERIA:
This is a 10 hour course and it is designed to both mentally and physically prepare motorcycle riders to safely and effectively operate a motorcycle.

Extensive time will be utilized by the course instructors towards building the students skill level as well as their confidence level when riding a motorcycle.

The course curriculum strongly emphasizes the safe, competent operation of the motorcycle while paying particular attention to acceptable standards of rider capabilities and judgment. This course will teach students the use of "no brake" in that the use of brakes is permitted, but not required to specific exercises that are the subject of braking and exercises specifically authorizing the use of brakes. Emphasis is on clutch-throttle control.

PREREQUISITES:
  1. Possession of valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement.

  2. Furnish personal or rented motorcycle, which is safe and in good riding condition and street legal. (motorcycle(s) will be properly inspected by the Instructor(s) prior to start of class and motorcycle must pass inspection in order to attend/participate in class.
  3. Student(s) must posses/show proof of valid and current motorcycle insurance in order to attend/participate in class.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
In addition to a fully equipped motorcycle*, each student will be required to provide:
  1. Appropriate clothing is recommended with denim and/or motorcycle riding pants in good condition. No shorts and tank tops
  2. Jacket (lightweight or heavyweight)
  3. Shoes (Boots, hiking shoes) are to be high enough for complete ankle protection. Sharp pointed or cowboy boots are not permitted.
  4. D.O.T. approved motorcycle helmet (must meet SNELL standards)
  5. Leather gloves, thin riding type
  6. Sunglasses - Mirrored sunglasses are acceptable, but not recommended
  7. Clear glasses
  8. Appropriate rain gear (seasonal).

In addition, it is recommended each student bring:
  1. Two quarts of oil
  2. A small cleaning kit for maintenance.

Suggested Apparel
  1. Camel back water carrier. (Snacks, fruits, etc.)
  2. Sunscreen protection.

CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING
  • More than 10 days prior to the class there is no rescheduling fee. There is a $25.00 cancellation fee and the balance of the registration will be refunded.
  • Between 6 and 10 days prior to the class the fee is $50.00 to cancel or reschedule.
  • Within 5 days or less, there are no refunds for cancellations and all rescheduling fees and restrictions apply.
